Trujillo Spain. Cradle of Conquistadors.

With the patronage of the Count de Villapún, the collaboration of the Duarte Pinto Coelho Foundation and of Trujillo's City Council, The Orellana Year is structured to recover his forgotten identity. The natal house of the discoverer will have the role of giving back to Trujillo the vitality of an important part of its historical, artistic and cultural patrimony. It will be a center for investigation, study, and making known the feat of the discovery and navigation of the Amazon River, and the historical character of that most forgotten of heroes: Francisco de Orellana.

Collaborating with educational and research institutions, and fundamentally with the Xavier de Salas Foundation, Center for Cultural Interchange and the Promotion of Cooperation between Extremadura and America. Additionally, the intention to publish works that will encourage documentary and biographical studies of the episode.

A great scenario where crucial aspects like the climate change, the environmental degradation, the deforestation of the greatest ecological reserve of the planet, the biodiversity, and the relevance of the indigenous cultures of the Amazon are approached.

Trujillo Medieval
